Weekly Update, 10/5-10/9

Hello, families!

We had a fantastic week with everyone in our class together! Our class is full of friendly kids who are eager to learn.  I’m so excited that they are excited to be here at school.

Here are this week’s announcements

*Has your child told you about Operation First Grade Bootcamp?  During Bootcamp, we learn about what good learners do and how learners think, we learn how to solve friendship and learning problems at school, and we learn about the rules and routines that will help us be successful in school. Take a look at this year’s bootcampersclick link below!

*Thank you for helping your child remember to bring their O.W.L. folder to school each day. You may have noticed we added space for Blend-It Books to the folders. Blend-It Books are small books we read in class together. We use these to identify phonics patterns and to practice reading fluency. Each time we complete a Blend-It Book, children will bring home a copy of it. These are for them to practice at home. They do not need to be returned to school (they have a copy at school, too!)

*We will begin our spelling program on Wednesday, October 14th. More information will be sent home on this day.  Children will have weekly spelling tests, beginning Wednesday, October 21st.

*Children brought home Scholastic book order catalogs on Friday. If you are interested in ordering books, please complete your order by Friday, October 9th. When you order books, we get free books for our classroom, so thank you! Click the link below to order books. Our class code is: PB2JN
