Weekly Update 4/29-5/3


Hello everyone!

We have a busy week going on!  Field trips, carnivallots of fun! Here are this week’s announcements

*Our field trip to Idaho Botanical Gardens is tomorrow (Monday).  Please remember to pack a lunch for your child.  We will be eating lunch while on the field trip. We will leave school at 10:00, and return by 2:00. It will be sunny but chilly tomorrow, so please make sure your child brings a jacket to take on the field trip.

*Carnival is this Friday, May 3!  Thank you for all of the donations you gave for the first grade raffle baskets.  I heard a ton of stuff came in on Thursday and Friday!  The carnival is Friday, from 5-8. Can you volunteer?  I signed up to work the Bounce House from 5-5:30. I’d love to have some company during that timethere are three more volunteer slots available from 5-5:30. 



*This is kind of a strange request, but I need every child to bring in a hand held mirror by Friday, May 3.  We need them for an art project we are doing!  Mirrors WILL be returned to you by the next Friday,  May 10. Thank you!

Weekly Update 4/22-4/26


Hello everyone!

I’m so happy to report that 100% of our families attended our learning showcase.  The kids were excited to show you what they learned and researched about the United States.  It was an engaging way for them to learn about our country, as well as work on literacy skills.  I’m so proud of the work they put into it. *Our school carnival is on Friday, May 3, from 5:00-8:00 pm.  Each grade level is responsible for collecting items for gift baskets to auction off at the carnival. First grade has 2 baskets.  Our basket themes are:  Family Night and Road Trip.  Anything you can donate to add to the baskets would be appreciated! Some things that have been donated so far are:  board games, DVD movies, card games, candy, gift cards to restaurants. Any more of these would be good donations, or if you’ve got something else in mind, that’s great too. The PTA has made online sign-ups for our baskets. Please click the link below to see what else is needed. If you have already donated, kindly head to the online sign-up and note what you have already donated on the sign-up form. Thank you!

*Tuesday is an early release day.  School will dismiss at 1:25pm. Lunch will be served!

*Just a heads-up to youI will be gone Wednesday morning for a doctor’s appointment, Thursday all day for a professional development meeting, and Friday all day because I will be out of town! Everything fell together all in the same week!  As always, I will check my email regularly, so please email if you need to get in touch with me. There will be no Math group Thursday morning!

*We are excited to share all of the things we have learned during our “Home Sweet Home” unit about the United States with you. Please stop by our classroom any time between 4:00-4:45 this Tuesday, April 16th to see what your child has learned!

*Subway Day is Friday, April 19th!

Weekly Update 4/8-4/12


Hello families! 

I hope everyone had a fantastic spring break. We are down to the final 8 weeks of first grade!  It will be jam packed with learning and fun.  Now, get out your calendar, because I have lots of important dates this week that I know you’ll want to take note of

*Did you get your invitation for our Learning Showcase next week?  If not, ask your child about it! We are excited to share all of the things we have learned during our “Home Sweet Home” unit about the United States with you. Please stop by our classroom any time between 4:00-4:45 on Tuesday, April 16th to see what your child has learned!

*Speaking of our learning showcasethis Friday, I will be making a video of the kids singing a few patriotic songs we have learned during this unit. I’ll have it going during the showcase for families to view. If possible, please have your child wear something red, white, and/or blue this Friday. Please DO NOT go buy something special and spend lots of money! Just a basic t-shirt will do. Nothing fancy! 😊

*Subway forms came home on Friday.  Subway Day is Friday, April 19th!

Monday, April 29:  Field trip to Idaho Botanical Gardens.  We will leave school at 10:00 and return by 2:00.  We will eat lunch while on field trip  Permission slips will come home very soon, and a link for parent volunteer sign-up will be sent out sometime this week!

Wednesday, May 22:  Walking field trip to Heroes Park.  As part of our first grade Camp Read-a-Lot festivities, we will walk to Heroes Park for some outdoor reading time.  We will have lunch and playtime at the park as well. We will leave school at 10:45, and return at 2:15. Permission slips and parent volunteer sign-up will be sent home the first week of May.
