Weekly Update January 27-January 31

Hello, everyone!

I am looking really forward to this week. We have been working hard on writing our small moment stories, and this week we will finish them and be ready to share with our friends and family soon!

Before I get to this week’s announcements, I wanted to share something with all of you. Last week I watched our O.W.L.s work in partnerships on a Math lesson, which is something we do quite regularly.  As I walked around to check in, I listened to the conversations they were having as they worked through their assignments. It made my teacher heart so happy. They were taking turns reading the problems, thinking up their “plan of attack” to solve each problem, helping each other through stuck points. I didn’t hear any arguing or off-task behavior. I want you to know your children work so hard and show such a strong work ethic. It makes me want to work even harder for them!  I am so proud of them!
Now for this week’s announcements

*Maybe some of you noticedI never sent home the book order formoopsy! I will send an order home on Tuesday.  Orders will be due by Monday, February 3rd.  Sorry about that! If you put in an online order already, I am sending it through now!

I guess that is all the announcements I have this week!  No news is good news, I suppose.  I hope everyone has a fantastic week!

Weekly Update 11/4-11/8

Hello, everyone!

Last week we had a wonderful Halloween!  We did some art, read some fun Halloween books, had a yummy snack/party, and went “track” or treating for Ghouls at School! Our class is always up for a good time, and I love how well they get along, even on the crazier days when sometimes kids get overstimulated and fall apart.

Here are this week’s announcements

*We are still waiting to hear the official announcement about the Boxtops winner. Many of you brought in even more BoxTops, so I predict we will be the winners of the doughnut and hot cocoa party!  Keep sending in BoxTops, as they will be collected throughout the year.

*We are in need of paper towel rolls. As you finish off a roll of paper towels, please send in those empty rolls. We do NOT need toilet paper rolls, only paper towel rolls.

*New sight word lists will come home on Wednesday!  This list will last until Christmas vacation.

*Subway forms came home on Friday! Order forms and money are due by Thursday, November 7th.

*I’m looking for the owner of these sunglasses, and I think they may belong to one of the parents who volunteered at the Halloween party.  Email me if these sunglasses belong to you.

*I’m sending home book order forms this week. Book orders are due by Monday, November 11. That will give us enough time to receive our orders by Thanksgiving break!

*On Monday, your child will bring home a moongazer and a moon observation recording sheet.  They will keep track of how the moon changes every few days over the next few weeks.  The kids keep asking for homework, so here it is!!!

Weekly Update 10/28-11/1

Hello, everyone!

What a wonderful time Mrs. Hecht had with our class. She reported that our O.W.L.s were very kind and respectful, worked hard, and were very independent! I am proud of them!

Here are this week’s announcements

*Halloween is coming! We will have a class Halloween party on Thursday, October 31, at 2:40. After our party, we will participate in Ghouls at School.  If you would like to volunteer at the party, and/or bring a party item, please click on the link below.  We still need cupcakes and Halloween treat bags (non-food items).  Also, please remember I am asking for a $2 donation from each child to purchase pizza for our party.

*Speaking of Halloween partyingyou DO NOT need to send in a snack on Halloween, as we will be having pizza and cupcakes for our snack! 😊

*Our class is in first place for the BoxTops competition!  Woo hoo!  We have a very tight lead against Mrs. Cournoyer’s class. If you have any BoxTops at home, gather them up and send them in ASAP!  It would be fun to win and earn a class party!

*On Wednesday, your child will NOT bring home any spelling.  I will be pre-assessing our next round of sight words next week, so there will be NO spelling test on Wednesday, November 6th.
