Weekly Update 10/1-10/2

Dear families

We had such fun on our field trip to the Ag Expo last week. Here is a video with a few pictures from our trip. Thank you to all who were able to chaperone!

Here’s what is happening this week..

*Library Day is MONDAY! Please make sure your child brings their book to school. Thank you!

* Picture Day is MONDAY!  All children will take a picture, even if you don’t plan to purchase any packages. Please send in your child’s picture money on Monday.

*This week is Fall Break!  There is no school from Wednesday, October 3rd-Sunday, October 7th.  Kids return to school on Monday, October 8th.

*Smencils will be for sale this Monday and Tuesday. They are $1 each. Smencils are pencils that have a scrumptious smell! Most of them are fruit flavored scents. The kids love them, and it’s a good way to support our student council.

*Did you know that you can access your child’s lunch account online? This is a very convenient way for you to add lunch money to your’ child’s account. Click the link below to learn more about how to gain online access.

*I will be sending home the October Scholastic Book catalogs this week. The deadline to enter October orders will be Tuesday, October 10. This will give us time to get any Halloween themed books shipped to us before Halloween.

*Still looking for paper towel rolls! If you have extra, go ahead and send them in for us. We would appreciate it.

Weekly Update 9/24-9/28

Dear families--

We had a great time at the Jog-a-Thon on Friday! I was able to snap a few pictures before the kids were off and running. After that, they whizzed by me so fast my pictures were a blur! Take a look below...

Here’s what is happening this week...

*Our field trip is on Tuesday!  We are leaving PROMPTLY at 9:15. We don’t have an issue with tardiness this year, but especially on Tuesday, please have kids at school right when the bell rings.  Thank you! The bus can not wait for children who are late. We will be back in time for lunch, so lunch will be like a normal day.

Weekly Update 9/17-9/21

Hello families!

Not too many announcements this week, but one BIG one is about the Jog-a-Thon! Read on...

*Our Jog-a-thon is this week!  Your child brought home information about the Jog-a-Thon in their folder on Friday.  Money is due THIS Thursday!  The Jog-a-Thon is this Friday at 2:45!  This year’s theme is Superheroes.  Children may dress up as their favorite hero on this day.  Below is a link to information about the Jog-a-Thon

*Last week, I taught our class about the debug system, which is a problem-solving tool we use in class when a kid is being a “bug” to another child. To learn more about the Debug system, click on the link below.  Please understand that this is a way for your child to solve problems when someone is bugging them, NOT if someone is a bully to them. We discussed the difference in class. If your child is having ANY kind of problem that you think is escalating into a bullying situation, please let me know immediately and I will take care of it.  Thank you!

*We are still in need of empty paper towel holders. I need one for each child. As you finish out a roll of paper towels, would you mind to send the cardboard holder for our class to have? Thank you!

Have a great week, everyone!  Jennifer

*6:00-6:30
*6:30-7:00

*Scholastic book order forms will be in your child’s OWL folder on Tuesday.  The deadline to order is Monday, September 10th. You may order online, and directions on how to do that are included with the order. If you prefer, you may send in the paper order form along with a check.  When you order from Scholastic books, we get FREE books for our classroom library, so please consider placing an order!

*Would you like to be a classroom volunteer?  Please check your child’s OWL folder for volunteer information and a sign-up sheet. The sign-up sheet is due back to me by Monday, September 10th.

SAVE THE DATE!  Tuesday, September 25th, 9:15-11:45 am, will be our first field trip of the year! We are going to the Ag Expo, which is hosted by the FFA student club at Meridian High School.  This is a really fun field trip! Permission slips will come home later this week, as well as information about being a chaperone.

*If you haven’t turned in your parent letter homework, please do so ASAP. You can send it to me via email.  Thank you! I receive so much valuable information about your kid through these letters, which helps me be a better teacher to your child.

*Don’t forgetI encourage kids to bring a water bottle to school. They keep it in their cubbie, and are welcome to go and get a sip of water as needed. I do request two things:  only fill bottle with water, and please fill it at home each day before coming to school.
