Weekly Update 4/8-4/12

Hello families! 

I hope everyone had a fantastic spring break. We are down to the final 8 weeks of first grade!  It will be jam packed with learning and fun.  Now, get out your calendar, because I have lots of important dates this week that I know you’ll want to take note of

*Did you get your invitation for our Learning Showcase next week?  If not, ask your child about it! We are excited to share all of the things we have learned during our “Home Sweet Home” unit about the United States with you. Please stop by our classroom any time between 4:00-4:45 on Tuesday, April 16th to see what your child has learned!

*Speaking of our learning showcasethis Friday, I will be making a video of the kids singing a few patriotic songs we have learned during this unit. I’ll have it going during the showcase for families to view. If possible, please have your child wear something red, white, and/or blue this Friday. Please DO NOT go buy something special and spend lots of money! Just a basic t-shirt will do. Nothing fancy! 😊

*Subway forms came home on Friday.  Subway Day is Friday, April 19th!

*We have two field trips coming soon!  Here is more information

Monday, April 29:  Field trip to Idaho Botanical Gardens.  We will leave school at 10:00 and return by 2:00.  We will eat lunch while on field trip  Permission slips will come home very soon, and a link for parent volunteer sign-up will be sent out sometime this week!

Wednesday, May 22:  Walking field trip to Heroes Park.  As part of our first grade Camp Read-a-Lot festivities, we will walk to Heroes Park for some outdoor reading time.  We will have lunch and playtime at the park as well. We will leave school at 10:45, and return at 2:15. Permission slips and parent volunteer sign-up will be sent home the first week of May.
